FAQ

How to use the BBQ Scraper

What is the BBQ Scraper made from?

The BBQ Scraper is made from solid FSC-certified Birch hardwood. Birch is prized for its fine-grained satin-like sheen and its strength and stability. This strength makes it perfect for cleaning BBQ’s without damaging porcelain coated grills. It also has a pleasant aroma and looks great. Birch also lasts longer than softer wood like cedar.

Do I need to treat my BBQ Scraper with anything?

Not if you don’t want to! The BBQ Scraper comes free from any finishes, contaminates or chemicals. The only thing we do to the final product is brand our logo on it. Some people prefer a finished look and apply food safe butcher block oil, on a regular basis.

How do I know if the BBQ Scraper is right for my grill?

Easy… if your grill is made up of rails that run in parallel lines the BBQ Scraper is perfect for you.

How long will it take for my BBQ Scraper to customize to my grill?

The BBQ Scraper edge is angled in such a way that the grooves will start to burn into the scraper from your first use. The more you use it the more customized it becomes until it surrounds the grilling surface of each individual grate.

How long will my BBQ Scraper last?

The BBQ Scraper is designed to stop customizing as soon as the grates are surrounded. This means that if you take care of the BBQ Scraper it should last many years. We recommend you don’t leave it in the rain or directly exposed to the elements. Most people store theirs under the BBQ cover.

How do I clean my BBQ Scraper after use?

All you have to do is turn the BBQ Scraper over and rub it against your grill to remove any charred bits. Other than that the BBQ Scraper takes care of itself.

Is the BBQ Scraper safe for porcelain coated grill grates?

This is one of the main reasons we deigned the BBQ Scraper! It’s a shame that so many people invest in quality BBQ’s but then buy the cheapest cleaning tools available. Cheap grill brushes scratch porcelain and cause a perfect environment for rust to start. The wood used to make the BBQ Scraper will never scratch your porcelain grill. Keep in mind that the BBQ Scraper works equally well on cast iron and stainless steel grill grates.

How do I clean the sides of my grill grates?

To clean the sides of your BBQ grill grates, simply turn the BBQ Scraper on its side and use the edge of the blade to clean in between the rails.
